Dino C.O. snippet!! Starting from scratch!

Hello Everyone. Alright, and the truth comes out..... I'm not liking how my Dino co. story is turning out..... so.... this is the time to tell you that a new version is coming out to you in snippets as I did before. The reason for this change is, as my mom was proofreading, she said that the preface didn't match the feel/genre of the actual story, and I kinda see it myself that I'm gonna need to change the story: Here is snippet one!!!!!

Preface

Charlottes blonde head lay crooked on the dark marble flooring. Johnny's jaw tensed as he looked away.

Genesis's chest tightened. Her head throbbed. Her stomach churned in distaste. Uneasiness crawled up her arms. In the corner of her eye, she watched Johnny brush a hand through his dark hair.

Charlotte was dead and both Genesis and her comrade in arms knew who killed her. Genesis had always wondered why Nina had given her the shivers, and it was only now that it dawned on her. She had always been working with Odette Alexander. A wrenching whisper cast from Johnny's lips.

     "What should we do?"

That was the question that had Brought Genesis here in the first place. What would they do now? I knelt down to touch Charlotte's cold, bruised hand.  Black and violet splotches marked the back of it. Genesis swept her blonde bangs on top of her head to examine the gunshot wound. It was clean, but a crimson trail oozed from the hole. Charlotte's eyelashes brushed against Gen's palm as she placed her golden hair back across her forehead, covering any sign of injury, except for a small patch of sticky blood that clung to her sweat-glossed hair.

Johnny tapped his radio unit with indecisiveness flickering in his blue eyes. Brown and hazel flecks pinpointed inside of the deep crystal colour. Gen and Johnny were both thinking the same thing. This was a matter of murder. What could they do? The only two options hung in the air, heavy and thick with emotion. Either they alert the authorities of the murder and tell them of who the killer was, or we confront Nina ourselves.

Either way, Charlotte's death would be avenged.

Dino C.O.

Genesis Webster squeaked her long rubber boots on the tile flooring of the laboratory.

She crossed to the other side of the room with a vile of unknown liquid in hand. Lifting her safety goggles from he top of her head, she suctioned them down over her midnight blue eyes. Through the lenses she observed the workbench before her.

Carefully with precision and purpose, she drew in a few drops into her pipette and released them into the depression slide under the microscope's lenses. Her fingers tingled with anticipation. Around her several other students cautiously transferred the mysterious liquid into their own slides. A smile tugged at Genesis's lips.

Only a few more final tests and I'll be ready for a big time museum.

She thought, in the faint sound of a whisper, careful not to disturb the hum of silence in the room. Genesis had only 2 more weeks at "New York College of Sciences", which most students called MCS, and she could hardly wait to leave.

Ten years. Ten long years she had spent her life studying, working, and learning. Now she was only fourteen days away from getting her Postdoctoral degree. The rustling of lab coats pulled Genesis from her thoughts.

Clearing her throat she consulted with the professor before returning to her experiment, carefully continuing the tedious process of identifying the mysterious liquid.

                                                 -------------------------------------------

Genesis swung her book bag over her shoulder as she ran through the long hallways of the experimental ADS building.

"Midnight? How can it be midnight? Where has the time gone?"

Genesis scanned through the parking lot.

Her blue Honda Civic sat in a convenient spot in front of the ADS building. Genesis walked quickly, her black combat boots sloshing through the mucky snow bordering the curb.

    "Ben is gonna kill me!"

Wrenching the car door open, she swung her bag to the passenger side and thumped down into the drivers seat. She hugged her denim jacket closer to her chest securing warmth between her and her cold car. She slouched in the cold fabric of the car's seat.

    "How could I have forgotten?"

Genesis held her face in her hands. Sighing at a loss of words she quietly slipped her car keys into the ignition. A blast of warm air poured from the temp system and swept over her face. She brushed back her short wavy brown hair. Tousling down her bangs she looked at herself from the rear- view mirror.

"Waiting won't do you any good Gen."

She scolded herself then went silent. Reaching over the centre console, she grasped her bag and slipped her iPhone from it. Unlocking it she slowly swiped at the screen. Tapping her contacts app she wiped the screen methodically until she reached it. Bens contact. She clicked it. Swiping down to the bottom of his profile info she read the notes she had written the night before: Date after class with Ben at Franks Bar 'n' Grill! Don't forget!

"Boy. What a day. So close to being perfect."

                                              -------------------------------------------

Genesis slid into a parking spot in front of Frank's Bar 'n' Grill. She shifted the car into neutral and sat silently in the the driver seat, only blinking and breathing.

She sighed, clenching her fingers on the steering wheel before sliding her gears into park and yanking her keys from the ignition.

    "Better late than never."

She muttered after getting out of the car and shutting it closed.

Genesis walked to the entrance of the restaurant and swung the door open for a few teenagers who cut in front of her. Their laughter echoed off of the walls and staircase that lead up to the dining floor. Genesis walked up the wooden stairs and strode into the bar.

Music hummed in the background with laughter and chatter following. Genesis scanned the tables for Ben. She couldn't spot him. She walked to the bar counter and signalled the bartender.

"Hey, Frank, did Ben come in this evening?"

Frank barely looked up at her, but instead wiped a beer mug vigorously with a rag.

    "Uhhh, well..."

He was cut off by a few costumers who were leaving the restaurant.

"Hey Frank, the beer tasted a bit stale!"

The young college kids shuffled out the door but a few who were obviously not sober lingered and called out to the bartender. He grumbled at them and smiled.

"If beer wasn't stale you'd be sober right now!"

He chuckled as the customers left.

    "Frank."

Genesis set her hands on the bar counter and leaned towards the bartenders face.

    "Did Ben come in tonight?"

The barkeep turned and continued his work, calling out to the waiters and servers. Walking out from behind the counter, he walked to pick up some plates and extra food platters from the tables that the costumers were leaving.

He held the platters in the bend of his arm and tossed his rag over his shoulder. Genesis growled beneath her breath and started walking briskly, trying to keep up with the man.

"Frank!" Genesis, growled at him, exasperation hitting every note.

He continued to ignore her, his scratchy voice chittering orders to his assistants.

   "Closing time!" Frank yelled.

He called out to a couple who were still eating. They jumped up and paid quickly. Genesis tried to ignore all the chaos but everything was happening too fast and she wasn't getting answers. She decided to take matters into her own hands and swerved in front of Bartender, almost tipping the large platters from his hands.

"Frank!" She wanted to know where Ben was and she would get it out of him.

The man sighed and replied, "What!"

"Did you see Ben tonight?" She asked, this time a little more gently.

    "Yes."  He answered.

    "Well?!" Genesis said.

"He left an hour before you came." The Barkeep grumbled out the information before turning handing the trays in his hands to a waitress that passed by.

"Did he seem upset." Genesis stepped aside to let the waitress through.

"Listen, I serve drinks not answers." Frank turned and became engrossed with brushing the dust off of his wine bottles on the display shelf.

    "Bartender!"

"Fine!" The man turned and sighed, a growl edging his deep raspy voice.

"Yes he was upset, he left earlier and he said he was leaving town for a few weeks."

"What!" Genesis, shocked and dumbfound, leaned against the bar counter and held her face in her hands.

    "Genesis, it's still closing time."

Genesis wiped away her shock and straightened. She nodded and turned toward the door. In her car she wrestled with the thought of calling Ben, but that would only make it worse. He would think that she knew all along that she had missed the date just to get attention.

    "No. I can't call him."

As simple as that, Genesis reared out of the parking spot and drove through the streets of New York to her tiny apartment. Where she only had a cat for company and an instant mac 'n' cheese to fill her stomach. What a life.
